Need Advice: Travelling from Augary Rock ---> Dunes of Despair - Guild Wars Forums

Hello All,
I have been on 11 unsuccessful runs trying to gain access to Dunes. Can anyone offer advice to what the best route is or where my groups are going wrong?

Once we enter Vulture zone we generally head RIGHT to teleporter over there. thentry to make our way through the undead to what we believe is the zone (but have never made it that far).

Is there anyway you can describe the best route or tips you have for making successful runs. The problem is the group usually starts fighting a set of creatures, then someone agros another set. people die, then some people leave then rest try to make a break for it.

the way i just tried it is to go south when you enter the zone, go east as soon as possible, then it's a straight shot south to the bottom of the zone, then you go west through a narrow corridor that has about a dozen of those sand elementals.

right on the other side of the elementals is teleporter that goes to the entrance to dunes of despair, but i wiped a couple times at the bazillion sand elementals, and had to log, so i just gave up.

one thing i would like to know is if you can get to the zone by going south on the west side rather than the east side. the map i have shows no entrance, but it looks like there should be one there (and the map i have is missing some of the zone points)

anyone confirm if dunes has 2 'doors' or just one?

and i wonder if everyone else has to confront the pile of sand elementals or if it's just because of a specific quest i have.

Dunes has only one entry point. You don't want to approach the zone from the northwest across the bridge. Easiest way is to shoot for the teleporter in the middle of the zone. I would suggest from the Northeast zone in point, the southeast zone in point has a few sand wurms on the trip to the teleporter. Just skirt the sand elementals the best you can and make a run for the teleporter. You'll actually use two teleporters if you approach from the northeast.

yeah i just did it this morning...i had an open 'path of the somethingorother' quests which caused about 12 sand elementals to spawn right in front of the teleporter...so i dropped all my 'path of the...' quests this morning and there were only 4 i think...so i killed them, ported, then you can see the swirly thing for the zone into dunes of despair.

so the path is south...east asap...south...then a tiny bit west to the teleporter that points almost right at the 'door' to dunes...then when you port and are lookign at the swirly thing, you are looking at it from the wrong side...so you just kill those 4 undead doods right near the teleporter, run around the corner, and you are in...it's so close you could ignore the 4 undead and just run in if you wanted.
